A Conversation on Styling with Daquan Earle

From Jamaica, Queens to the red carpet, Daquan Earle is styling the culture one look at a time. A tastemaker, observer, and curator of confidence, Daquan is more than just a celebrity stylist—he’s a master of proportions, and a connector who found purpose through people. In this conversation, he keeps it real about the grind, the garments, and the joy that comes from making others feel seen through style. We are reporting live from 24th street after the GUVANCH NYC Fall Winter 2025 show.

  • What's your name?
    • I go by Daquan Earle, straight from Jamaica Queens, south side to be exact. I am a celebrity stylist, wardrobe stylist, and I also run a fashion PR company called Another Day Agency.
  • What is style to you?
    • Style is expression, it's personality, it's who you are. It's something that can't be carbon copied. It has to be either with in you or you just don't have it, honestly.
  • Real. So, what do you do? What does a stylist do?
    • A stylist does a lot of stuff that they don't wanna do, but if you love this job, then you're gonna end up having to do those things. A lot of pulls, a lot of carrying, tons and tons of heavy garment bags. This can be very, very annoying, but there's also a lot of rewarding components of styling that I really, really love and enjoy. Things that make everything just fruitful, you know, it makes everything worth it. The best thing is just seeing my clients happy for real. When I put them in a nice fit, that look on their face just brings joy to me.
  • That's what's up. How'd you get into styling?
    • I've always kind of been into what I wear and how I look for real, but as far as like professional styling, I would have to owe that to a lot of people. I've always had a liking for putting clothes on people, but I owe where I'm at to, you know, all of my friends that have helped me out along the way. Aji, Talia, Matthew Hanssen. My manager Kavali you name it, there's so many people I can name, but answering that question in just one word or one answer is hard because there's so many people that helped me along the way.
  • It's definitely hard, but overall it seems to be about the journey
    • Yeah the journey
  • The people and the connections made along the way.... And what inspires you?
    • So many things, but if I had to choose one thing that inspires me every day in terms of like, you know, what I do as a profession. Honestly, just walking outside my house and seeing what people are wearing everyday. That brings inspiration to me all the time. I feel like every time when I leave the house, I see, something, I learn something, you know. Whether it's, the way someone’s wearing their tie that specific day or the way how a specific individual, tucks their shirt into their pants, or whatever it is, any little detail, you know. I’m always just observing, so I think that's what inspires me.
  • New York City has everything. It's so cool to see, just walking outside is like the biggest inspiration. So, you have a client come to you? I need to get fitted for something. Where do you start? How do you start putting a look together?
    • I start with the pants. I’m a pants guy. I feel like that's the base of an outfit. I focus on proportions mostly, so like, a good pair of pants can really bring a fit together. I feel like most people focus on the shoes, some people focus on the accessories, top, shirt, jack. I'm a pants guy.
  • That's unique, that's super cool everyone has their own signatures. So, what's your day to day like?
    • My day to day consists of a lot of emailing. I'm constantly on my laptop, talking to people that I don't wanna talk to, and some people that I do wanna talk to. It's a lot of that, visiting showrooms, upcycling brands, learning about new brands for my clients, and constantly taking calls because we always have contracts coming in. Like a damn secretary forreal.
  • So lots of communicating and conversations like "Hey, I need this, can we get this for this?"
    • Exactly bro.
  • Do you have a crazy story just like one time you would just like, wow, I'm really out here like living my dream?
    • Honestly, the first time that Leon [Thomas] told me that he really, fucked with a fit that I put him in. That's when I realized that I was doing something that I love to do. Because honestly, this is a client that I watched on television.
  • Yeah, yeah, same here. A great show.
    • It's just like a blessing to be in this position. and work with people that, you know, are kind of like a part of my childhood. Yes, it's kind of surreal. That's kind of like when I realized.
  • You're really out here doing shit. That's incredible.... If someone wanted to be a stylist, what steps would you recommend they take?
    • Definitely you always want to work on your own personal style, because I feel like that gauges how you dress like certain individuals you know. Also research brands, because I feel like the more knowledgeable you are, the better you are at your job. You know what I'm saying. A lot of stylists pull from the same brands and source from the same people. It's good to always go outside the box. And I feel like the more knowledgeable you are about fashion, or just about your craft in general.
  • Well rounded.
    • Yep the more well rounded you are you know, the better you are. Fine tuned. That's what I always say get as fine tuned as you can every day.
  • Awesome bro, thank you! ON EST LÀ
